Find the right balance between uses

Two independent complexes and three equipped kitchens offer a starting point for several ways of living. A collective may wish to separate homes, work and activities involving visitors; several households or generations may want common spaces without sharing every part of daily life.

The ten existing bedrooms are spread between the historic house and modern complex. Future residents can explore the balance between private space, bathrooms, common rooms and possible self-contained accommodation. Ten bedrooms do not mean ten independent homes already exist.

Work quietly and stay connected

The modern complex has an active 1 Gbit/s connection, Ethernet sockets in every room and Wi-Fi. The larger spaces could inspire shared workplaces, studios or educational activities. Workstations, acoustics and quiet call spaces can be planned around the project.

The setting particularly suits longer stays, focused work and a deliberately rural way of life. Shopping and shared journeys can be organised as part of a coliving or workation project.

Make mobility part of the plan

According to the owners, Saint-Affrique and its shops are approximately 8 km and 20 minutes away by car. Shared shopping trips, communal vehicles or arranged transfers are options to consider in everyday operations. The needs of people without cars deserve particular attention.

Montpellier and Toulouse are regional arrival points to consider. The precise route, arrival terminal or station and final journey to the estate should be assessed around the habits of future residents.

A place that can evolve with its residents

Some existing rooms and portions of the larger halls could be assessed for additional bedrooms. Choices depend on what the group wishes to retain: common rooms, creative spaces, occasional hosting or professional activities.
